Pre-Workout Beetroot Smoothie

In the previous post, we learned 10 Amazing Health Benefits of Beetroots. This vegetable isn't very popular for its flavor, though, and many people struggle to find a way to include beets in their diets. This smoothie is sweet, creamy, and the perfect way to incorporate beetroots into your daily intake, even if you are not such a big fan. Moreover, it is a perfect pre-workout smoothie due to the kick of energy coming from the beetroot and banana in it.

50g beet or 1 small beet*  
150g soy yogurt
2 Tbsp. maple syrup 
1 medium ripe banana 
some drops of vanilla abstract 
2 Tbsp. soy milk (or any other milk of your choice, water works as well) 

In a blender, add all the ingredients and blend until they become very smooth. Add more liquid during the process if your smoothie is too thick for your taste. 

I bought a bag of already cooked beets, but you can always cook or stew them yourself. If you have a powerful blender or a juicer, you can also include them raw. 

Switch the maple syrup for a syrup of your choice like agave syrup. 

Top your smoothie with coconut flakes or seeds if you like contrasting textures. 

Do not let the strong aroma of beetroot pull you back and give this smoothie a try, I promise it tastes delicious and the beet's flavor is almost unnoticeable. How do you like to eat beetroots?

  2. I'm really glad to hear that Beth! At first I wasn't sure about adding beetroot into a smoothie, but this combination is really creamy and yummy! Plus beets and bananas are great before a workout :)
